Normally when I'm this busy I would go into an extended hiatus, which could last up to a month or two. But I've decided that—this time—I'm just going to pull the plug completely.

This is the official announcement that PuckDrawn is going off the air for good.

Don't shed a tear as there are plenty of websites dedicated to hockey concept art!

My interest in running a blog dedicated to hockey logos and uniforms has completely disappeared. I have other projects and new challenges that I'd rather spend my time on, so that's what I'm gonna do.

It's been a fun couple of years and I thank you all for visiting and commenting.

A special thank you to all of the concept designers. Without you this blog would have been VERY boring.

Ok, Here's The Winner...

This is why I can't have nice things...

I accidentally announced Gareth Webb as the winner because I idiotically looked at the poll results wrong. Sorry, Gareth. You're still a winner in my book.

Vote Now! NHL Re-brand Design Competition

Well, I had originally planned on having three judges, but Andy Hall hasn't responded for a couple of days and I don't think there's any reason to wait a third day for you guys to get your vote on.

I think me and Chris Link came up with a solid Top 10 set of concepts. I would have loved to make this a Top 12 list, but what can ya do... Better luck next time, right?

All Concepts Are In! -NHL Re-branding Design Competition

The final set of concepts have been posted for the NHL Re-branding Design Competition. You can view the entire submission gallery by visiting the Flickr page.

There are three judges for the vetting process: Andy Hall, Chris Link, and myself.

Andy and Chris will be giving me their top 15 concepts. Once I have their picks I will then decide on the top 10 concepts from their list. The top 10 submissions will then be voted on by you to determine the winner of the competition.

Don't Steal.

It's getting harder and harder to run these competitions when "designers" blatantly steal and lie about the originality of their work.

I think it's in poor taste to purchase some illustration from a stock art website, re-color it, and then slap it on a jersey, calling it your own. You did buy the stock art and you did modify the colors, and you did plop it on a jersey, but it's not YOUR logo. It's not 100% your design.

That doesn't bother me too bad. I just try to make sure I stipulate "no stock" in the rules for these competitions.

What REALLY chaps my ass is when someone submits a concept that kinda looks familiar, and I ask them if it's their original artwork that they are submitting, to which they reply, "yes, all my work."

That is maddening.

Blake Hebert's Sharks concept has been taken down because his primary logo is a direct ripoff of a concept by Ian Baker Nitroseed, posted on SportsLogos.net forums in 2004.

"Artists," please don't steal.

Don't claim something as your work because you think the Internet can't be searched past yesterday.
